Family Day Care Educators Frequently Asked Questions

  • Playsessions up to 12 times per year: run by qualified staff, full of exciting innovative activities, transport included to and from the venue if required. Great to network with your Educator colleagues.
  • Free toy library: including dramatic play, construction, music, dress ups, multicultural equipment; craft activity kits; hundreds of books; hundreds of puzzles including collection and drop off if required.
  • Training: up to 12 sessions per year including mandatory training such as first aid; hands on experiences such as Science for Preschoolers; outside specialists and fun evenings.
  • Educator forums: 4 times per year where the Educators run the meetings; guest speakers; staff members available to answer queries; supper provided.
  • Regular in home support: visits from our qualified Educator Support Officers at least once per month with assistance given for programming, environments, activities, problems with children or families, and updates on information from the Coordination Unit.
  • Comprehensive Administration support: for all fee enquiries, timesheet queries, payment of bills for equipment or resources purchased.
  • Full time Placement Officer: assists you in finding suitable families for your service; relocations when you can’t operate your service; full enrolment procedures for new families; annual re-enrolment; compilation of all records required from families to be kept by the Educator.
  • Emergency relocations: 24hr on call for any emergencies that arise where your service may not be able to operate and families need relocation care.
  • Excursions and special events: arranged 3-4 times per year to local parks, special events at libraries, visits to local services such as the Fire Station; in centre experiences such as puppet shows, musical events or animal experiences. All organisation, permission forms and risk assessments provided.
  • All forms and paperwork required by the Regulations and National Quality Standards including timesheets, injury and accident forms, emergency evacuation drill forms, risk assessment and parent permission forms.
  • Comprehensive induction programme: 3-4 days of training covering areas of documentation, policy and procedure, health and safety, child development, business practices and practical in home visits.
  • Supply copies of: National Law and Regulations, Guide to the National Quality Standards, Early Years Learning Framework, My Time Our Place Framework, Policy & Procedure Manual, Educator Diary, Portfolio journal, Educator Resource Manual and much more.
